Let’s be clear: This cap is MLB Authenticated as team issued to Yusmeiro Petit. But there are clear signs of use. The top of the bill has red clay/dirt where a pitcher would grab his cap, and the bottom of the bill has what appears to be dirt and sweat. The cap was authenticated for the September 27, 2020 game against the Seattle Mariners, but the Oakland Athletics didn’t wear these caps for that game. They wore them for Game 1 of a doubleheader the day before, although Petit did not appear on that game. The A’s also wore these caps for the September 15, 2020 game against the Colorado Rockies. Petit pitched 1.1 innings in that game, striking out two. Petit, of course, has played for Oakland since the 2018 season. He has played alongside the likes of Sean Manaea, Frankie Montas, Matt Chapman, Matt Olson, Ramon Laureano, Tony Kemp, Liam Hendricks, Marcus Semien, Sean Murphy, Khris Davis, and Chris Bassitt. This cap is all green with a white A’s on the front. It is size 7 3/8. Written in sharpie on the inside of the cap is 36, Petit’s number.
